US President Donald Trump was full of praises for Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during the first Board of Peace meeting.

Prabowo is one of the world leaders who flew to Washington for the meeting, where Trump made a number of pledges for Gaza.

Trump Praises Prabowo

According to a report by The Jakarta Post, Trump described Prabowo as a "man I really like a lot" when he introduced his Indonesian counterpart.

"Look at that man. Look how tough he is. You think it's easy dealing with him? Look at that face," Trump went on to say about Prabowo. "You are a tough cookie. And we say it lovingly, too."

Trump also praised Prabowo's decision to send troops to Gaza. According to ANTARA News, Prabowo pledged to deploy at least 8,000 peacekeeping troops.

Pledges Made for Gaza

During the meeting, Trump declared that "The war in Gaza is over." However, as ABC News notes in its report, air strikes as recent as Sunday have killed even more people.

Trump went on to reveal what the members of the Board of Peace have pledged to do. In particular, he highlighted the

US$7billion that will be put into what he called the Gaza "relief package." Among the nations expected to contribute are:

  • Azerbaijan
  • Bahrain
  • Kazakhstan
  • Kuwait
  • Morocco
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Uzbekistan

Aside from Indonesia, countries such as Albania, Kosovo, Kazakhstan and Morocco, will also be sending troops to help stabilize Gaza.

Trump also revealed that Japan will organize an "aid fundraiser" that will be supported by neighboring countries. He claims that China is one of them.
