President Prabowo Subianto has claimed that that Indonesia's free meals program (MBG) is on track to exceed the global daily output made by McDonald's.
Prabowo made the claim while speaking at the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos.

Prabowo Claims MBG to Exceed McDonald's Daily Global Output
According to a report by ANTARA News, Prabowo said that the daily output of the free meals program equal to 59.8 million. McDonald's, on the other hand, serves 68 million meals per day.
"In about a month's time, we will surpass McDonald's 68 million meals a day," Prabowo said. "We started in January of last year. This year, we aim to serve 82.9 million meals a day."
The Jakarta Globe notes in its report that the President highlighted the economic benefits of the program, stating that around 61,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and large corporations are involved to keep the program running, especially when it comes to the supply chain.
The program also added 600,000 jobs in the meal kitchens alone.
"At its peak, we are optimistic it will reach 1.5 million direct jobs with vendors and suppliers," said Prabowo. "There will be more than 1 million livelihoods embraced and improved."

Free Meals Program
The Indonesian government's free meals program provides nutritious meals to children, pregnant and lactating mothers, and elderly people living on their own. The meals are delivered straight to the homes of their recipients.
The program began with 190 kitchens serving about 570,000 meals a day. Within a year, the number of kitchens ballooned to 21,102.
